Umthi Lodge is an luxury self-catering guesthouse on a private game reserve in South Africa. Situated on the unspoilt natural Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape, and surrounded by big 5 African game reserves. The ECO Lodge offers guests private access to one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the world.

Architecturally inspired to combine African elements of rock, bush and wood. The design reflects its natural surroundings in harmony with the latest technology in LED lighting, folding aluminium doors, cantilevered windows and a state of the art Siemens kitchen, even whe worlds top chefs would be proud of.

Swimming Pool, Beach and Lagoon

The sundeck at Umthi Lodge opens out onto a swimming pool surrounded by rock and balau wood. The pool is heated by an air source heatpump to allow swimming all year round.

A private access boardwalk leads through the dune forest and down to the lagoon and a breath-taking beach. The beach is a natural unspoilt hidden gem. There are no hotels or resorts – only natural dune forest, the lagoon and pristine beach. The private lagoon is a must for swimming in the sheltered warm water.

Lounge

The lounge is sunken down from the rest of the house and set behind a large screen of African river reeds. The custom made corner suite is positioned in front of a Jetmaster woodburning stove, keeping you warm and cosy in the winter. The floor is covered in a large jute rug from India. The double aspect corner windows view out to the Indian Ocean to the South and to the watering hole, dune forest and savannah to the north.

The lounge is equipped with a Samsung 50” UHD 4k TV which has the highest specification of resolution on the market. It is connected to DSTV satellite TV. A Samsung Sound Bar is also installed below the TV.

Dining Room

The dining room has a large custom made solid oak dining table which can seat 10 people. Opening out to the pool deck –the 6m wide folding aluminium doors can slide back to create an al fresco dining environment. The Dining Room is equipped with a Samsung portable speaker system which you can connect to with either a cable or Bluetooth connection.

Kitchen

The kitchen has been specified to the highest standards and provides:
